New Music Monday: June 2015 Playlist

Leon-Bridges-Coming-Home-Album.jpg

There could be no better indication that summer has arrived then a June playlist post in mid-July! Thankfully a frenzy of summer activity was to blame and not a shortage of fantastic new music. This past month in music was quite remarkable. Jamie xx's In Colour was indisputably the most anticipated and well-received release in June. His solo-debut album is a brilliant showcase of his minimalist musical aesthetic. The texture and variety of his tracks shine throughout the entire album. Leon Bridges' Coming Home marked another highly anticipated debut album. His beautifully nostalgic, American soulful sound has made him a viral sensation.

Perhaps my favorite, if not my most replayed album was Wolf Alice's My Love Is Cool. I first heard of this London-based indie rock group through KCRW's Jason Bentley. Their debut album did not fail to disappoint. It's a complex, moody, and fascinating listen from start to finish. The lead female vocalist's voice is nothing short of captivating. I could not recommend an album more highly- go take a listen!   https://open.spotify.com/user/1223089806/playlist/12ZDDZzeUiMpmT5dL62BJZ   1) Obvs- Jamie xx
